Spring 2012
About the artist . . .

Few artists have deeper roots in the beauty of northern lower Michigan than Doug Melvin.

A native of Indiana, Melvin came to Petoskey in 1973 to establish the art department at North Central Michigan College.  Over the following thirty years, Doug helped create a learning environment that engaged students in the wonders of art—as creators, observers and patrons.

Honored by the community as the recipient of the first annual “eddi” award from the Crooked Tree Arts Center, Melvin continues to be a shining light in his advocacy of the arts.
